SACRAMENTO POETRY CENTER OFFERS ARRAY OF ONGOING WRITING CLASSES AND GROUPS, including creative nonfiction with Rae Gouirand, fiction with Zoe Keithley, and poetry with Bob Stanley, Danyen Powell, and John Allen Cann; also, AWA generative writing with Laura Martin

Have you checked out the Sacramento Poetry Center calendar recently?

Look at all these learning opportunities for writers and readers:

Tuesdays:

John Allen Cann teaches on a different twentieth-century poet each week. $20 drop in, @ SPC Tuesday evenings.

Danyen Powell hosts Tuesday night poetry workshop at Hart Senior Center (supported by SPC): This very open ongoing workshop has been meeting for many years and has produced a number of fine poets. Folks come for all reasons—to get a little feedback on their first manuscripts and to workshop work that eventually will be published. 7:30 pm on Tuesdays; drop-in; FREE

Wednesdays:

Bob Stanley, Sacramento Poet Laureate, hosts Room to Write Workshop from 1 to 3 pm; $20 drop-in @ SPC

Rae Gouirand teaches Creative Nonfiction Workshop on Wednesday nights; by enrollment only; for full details, visit Rae’s blog, allonehum, here.

Thursdays:

Laura Martin facilitates AWA generative writing workshop (all genres) on Thursday evenings at SPC, 6-8 pm, $20 per session. Details here.

Third Thursdays Poetry Readers at Central Library: this is not a class, but it’s a great event! Free, at noon, Central Library.

Fridays:

On the Final Friday of each month, January-October, come to SPC to hear Stories on Stage, the fantastic fiction reading series founded by Valerie Fioravanti. Full details at the SoS website.

Saturdays:

Every 3rd Saturday: Story Workshop with Zoe Keithley: this is a long-standing Sacramento workshop that just moved to SPC! 3rd Saturday of every month, 12:30-4:30 pm. $40, drop-in. Zoe is a great supporter of our literary community and a wonderful teacher of the Story Workshop method. Check this class out!

The Urban Poet Spoken Word – 3rd Saturdays in the evening—also not a class; this promises to be a great series. $5 donation. See SPC website for details.

Watch the SPC calendar for occasional one-day workshops on Saturdays!

Coming in Fall: Be on the lookout for another fantastic series of Literary Lectures on Thursday nights again this fall!
