$40 (collected at the door) gets you:
  • Kate’s & Janna’s mini publishing workshop & Q&A
  • Kate’s & Janna’s, and your party-mates’, answers to your wildest submitting questions!
  • tea & coffee
  • community & motivation

Bring your own snacks and lunch (or lunch money–sometimes we like to take a break and walk somewhere to share a meal) and your laptop, loaded with the piece(s) you’re planning to submit! You will need your own computer to be able to submit during the party, and, feel free to come with questions and do other planning if you are not able to bring a laptop.

Not quite ready to submit yet? That’s okay, come anyway! Get your questions answered, start your submission plan, make friends and build confidence to take the plunge.

Schedule for the day–come anytime you like, and work whenever you want (e.g. feel free to ignore the speaker or Q&A):

11:30-11:45: Gather (FYI door will be locked until 11:30, so that Kate and Janna can do some pre-party submitting of their own!)
11:45-12:15: J&K’s quick-and-dirty publishing world overview & some basic do’s and don’ts
12:15-12:45: Q&A
12:45-3:30: Open lab work time
Contact Kate at kate (at) kateasche (dot) com to RSVP, and feel free to ask questions!

Sub Party Hall of Fame

Join Janna and Kate in congratulating these folks whose work has been published as a result of submitting during one of our Sub Parties! (Had your own work picked up after a Sub Party, but don’t see your name here? Email Kate at kate (at) kateasche (dot) com to be added!)

Shelley Blanton-Stroud published “Wrong Choice Girl,” a young adult short story, in the summer 2016 print issue of Soundings Review, published by the Northwest Institute of Literary Arts MFA program.

James L. Cooper published the poems “Kiss of the Party Girl” and “Ode to My Broken Gate” in Temenos; from a separate submission, James is also celebrating his win of the Tupelo Quarterly Issue 9 Prose Open Competition, in which is story “Path of the Ground Birds” was selected by Adam Johnson–congrats, James!

Sondra Olson will publish her essay, “Off the Map,” in Creative Nonfiction‘s “Exploring the Boundaries” online department in spring 2019, and published another essay, “Bending Time,” over at Clockhouse (where her work appears in absolutely fantastic company).

MJ Lemire will see an essay published in Literary Mama sometime in the first part of 2017.

Lisa Ludden published the poem “Books, Bicycles” in Riverbabble, online here; two more poems from the fall 2014 sub party were published: “What is Now” at The Indianola Review and “Transitions” at The Stillwater Review. Flutter Press will publish Lisa Ludden’s poetry chapbook, Palebound, in 2017.

Kate Asche published the poems “When We Were Birds” and “More Than Ardor,” which will appear in the spring 2016 print issue of Natural Bridge.
